Baseball roundup (April 9): Cafaro walk-off lifts Ansonia in 8

Garrett Cafaro hit a solo home run into the right field bleachers with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Ansonia a walk-off win, 4-3, over Kolbe Cathedral in a nonleague game Tuesday afternoon.
Brendan Palmer scattered five hits over 7 2/3 innings and Tyler Cafaro earned the win by recording the final out.
Luca Belenchia had two hits and drove in two runs.
Nonnewaug 11, Gilbert 0 (5): Sam Williams didn’t allow a hit while striking out seven to lead the Chiefs.
Austin Bedard, Ryan Tomkalski and Jarret Michaels scored two runs apiece.
Bedard and Tomkalski each drove in a run.
Northwestern 11, Housatonic 1: Spencer Green had a single and a double for the Highlanders (4-0) in a game that was shortened due to rain.
Alberto Catalini added a double. Zach West earned the win, giving up two hits and striking out three.
Caleb Sphur had a double for the Mountaineers.
Holy Cross 10, Pomperaug 0 (5): Zach Lerner tossed a one-hitter with four strikeouts to pace the Crusaders.
Brian Parzyck had a double and drove in a pair while Joe Bonvicini added a double and an RBI for Holy Cross.

St. Paul 8, Woodland 3 (5): Ryan Daniels led the Falcons, driving in half of the runs scored with pair of two-run homers and a double.
Ethan Rembish allowed three unearned runs on two hits while striking out eight, earning the win.

Caitlin Curran and Mary-Katherine Cormier added two hits apiece.
Madison Grieger had two hits for the Chiefs.
Wamogo 15, Thomaston 4: Danielle Maliszewski had two singles and two doubles for the Warriors.
McKenzie Hoyt added two singles and double, and Paige Mitchell had a single and a double.
Sam Sylvester earned the win. striking out eight.
Kaylee Falter hit two singles for the Bears.

Oxford 9, Watertown 1: Rose Reitmeyer hit a home run and a double among her three hits and Sage Borkowski earned the victory for the Wolverines.
Jenna Myers also had three hits, including a triple.
Jordyn Forte had two hits for the Indians.
Derby 18, WCA 3: Christina Carloni totaled two hits, four runs and an RBI to help the Raiders improve to 4-0.
Olivia Ruggiero drove in three runs with two hits, including a double, and Kaylee Olenoski had a double and two runs.

Watertown 22, Ansonia 0 (5): Brianna Catalani powered the way with a three-run home run and a three-run double, finishing with seven RBI for the Indians. Catalani and Morgan Hodorski combined to strike out seven and allowed only one hit. Chloe DeFeo scored two runs with two RBI. Paige Fekete and Taryn White both doubled for the Indians.
Mikayla Hernandez singled for the Chargers.
Holy Cross 17 Derby 0 (5): Brandi McIntosh threw a no-hitter for the Crusaders.
McIntosh also singled and doubled with three RBI for Holy Cross and Allie Brown added a double and three RBI.
Seymour 7, Naugatuck 0: Sierra Cripps hit a two-run home run and Morgan Teodosio chipped in with a two-run double for the Wildcats in an NVL game in Seymour.
Jacey Cosciello and Reilly Bronson each had two hits and Molly Adamo tossed a three-hit shutout for Seymour (4-1). Nadia Cestari, Samantha Mullin and Felicia Salvati had hits for Naugatuck (2-2).
Wolcott 17, Wilby 0: Kennedy White threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts over five innings. Hailey Krol had three hits and Katie Cosmos had three stolen bases.
Oxford 19, WCA 1: Molly Sastram had four hits, including home run, for the Wolverines.
Rose Reitmeyer added four hits and Jenna Myers and Autumn Mitchell each had two hits.WCA’s Nefertiti Doughty had two hits and Cristina DaCruz added a double. Xamyia Grubb played excellent defense for WCA.
Torrington 10, Kennedy 2: Marissa Burger hit a home run and had a single and RBI for the Raiders. Alyssa Dowd added a triple and an RBI. Alexa Reynolds singled and doubled for two RBI. Julia Fritz struck out 13 in earning the win.
Jalissa Robles hit a triple in the first inning and scored on an RBI single by Britney Barton for the Eagles. Janivelys Gutierrez hit a lead-off single in the 5th, a stolen base, and scored on error.
St. Paul 15, Sacred Heart 2: Jessica Persechino struck out 15 for the Falcons (3-1). At bat, she homered and had two singles. Abby Poirot added two homers and a single. Ava Hampton had two home runs and Gillian Smith added one. The Falcons hit six home runs, three coming in succession in the sixth inning from Persechino, Poirot and Hampton.
Victoria Turrell, Jillian Boland and Jamies Baker had two hits apiece for the Hearts (2-2).
Nonnewaug 12, Litchfield 0: Arianna Laracuente had three hits, including two home runs and four RBI and Abigail Scheurich added three hits and five RBI.
Maya Brazauskas allowed one hit with11 strikeouts over five innings for Nonnewaug. Brianna Hynds and Ally Mauro each had three hits, Alyssa DeMarest had a two-run double.
Shepaug 13, Terryville 4: Alexa McCarley had three singles and four RBI for the Spartans and Hayley Laskey added a single, triple, two RBI and two runs scored.
Maya Jacob also had a double, single, two RBI and two runs scored for Shepaug and Jessica Kisling added a solo home run. Ally Michaud had a triple, two RBI and a run for Terryville and Jess Valenine had an RBI single and a run scored. Tiffany Pires also had an RBI single.
Northwestern 3, Lewis Mills 0: Lexi Fortier pitched a complete-game three-hitter, striking out nine in the Highlanders’ victory. Jana Sanden had a triple, RBI and scored two runs.
Mary Kate Cormier surrendered just three hits for the Spartans. Hailey Gorack had a double for the Spartans.
Cheshire 9, Hand 2: Bri Pearson was 4-for-4 and also had 10 strikeouts in the win. Lexi Hemstock added three hits and Grace Lurz and Bi Floyd also had two hits.
Cheshire Academy 23, Millbrook 1: Riley Norwood homered with six RBI for the Cats. Brie Bavaro added a home run. Mia Ferry earned the win striking out six.
Platt Tech 12, Kaynor Tech 3: Brianna Scarantino had two singles and a triple, two RBI, one stolen base, and three runs scored for Platt Tech.
Danielle Salvati hit two singles and a home run, one RBI, and one run scored for the Panthers.
Wolcott Tech 25, O’Brien Tech 13: Mary Dinice earned the win striking out eight for the Wildcats (3-2). At bat, she had two singles, a double, one RBI and scored twice. Maura Nelson scored two runs with three RBI and three walks. Brianna Dinice added a double, four RBI and four runs scored. Michaela Scully hit a single with three RBI and three runs scored.
Amaya Hernandez homered, knocked in six and scored three runs for the Condors (0-3). Alyssa Iorfino had two singles and an RBI.
