Tyler Arbuckle netted 30 points, and went 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in overtime, as the St. Paul boys basketball team held off Derby, 85-82, on Wednesday.
Jahwan Cody had 23 points for Derby.
Brandon Figueroa had nine 3-pointers for 27 points to lead Ansonia over Oxford, 72-62. Michael Michaud led the Wolverines with 22 points.
Pat Drewry of Wolcott scored 16 points in a 49-45 win over Woodland. Zack Bedryczuk had 19 points for the Hawks.
Shawn Iwanow had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Terryville to its fifth straight victory, 54-31 over visiting Wolcott Tech. Nick Barney scored 13 points to lead Wolcott Tech.
Kyle Alvarez recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead Lewis Mills over Gilbert, 89-48. Josh Schibi added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans, while Joe Neary had 10 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.
Josh McGettigan scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Chase Belden netted 16 points as Pomperaug downed host Joel Barlow, 72-50.
Jaylen Crawford had 26 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals for Seymour as it defeated Watertown, 89-59. Nick Martins added 15 points for the Wildcats. Josh Maisto led the Indians with 18 points.
GIRLS
Gabbie Dunn scored 33 points with eight rebounds to lead Westover to a 57-45 win over Kent.
Morina Bojka scored six of her game-high 26 points in overtime and had 12 rebounds to lead Woodland to a 63-57 win over Wolcott. Eliza Smith added 17 points and Maddie Hupprich 14 for the winners. Raven Cody had 21 points for Wolcott, while Kaily Lawlor scored a layup with two seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Oxford’s Kelly Shpak had 16 points in a 42-30 win over Ansonia.
Raegon Shirling-Davis scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and Joyce Benton scored 14 points with 11 rebounds to lead Kennedy over Sacred Heart, 60-42.
Aamya Rivera scored 20 for the Hearts.
SWIMMING
J.T. Barth won the 200 freestyle (1:54.80) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.36) to lead Torrington to a 95-73 win over Watertown.
Holy Cross beat Seymour, 98-83, in a battle of NVL unbeatens. Zach Fell won twice for Seymour.
