Holy Cross won the third state softball championship in school history Saturday, and second straight, beating Notre Dame of Fairfield, 2-0, in the title game.
Sarah Lawton picked up the victory in a shutout, a game in which the Crusaders turned a rare triple play. Lawton allowed just two bunt singles and struck out 10.
