The Holy Cross High softball team advanced to the state championship game Thursday with a thrilling 2-1 win over East Granby at West Haven High. The Crusaders scored the winning run in the eighth inning when Allie Brown tripled and scored on a bunt by winning pitcher Sarah Lawton.
Cross is the defending state champion in Class S and will play in the state title game on Saturday.
