Here is the roundup of state tournament baseball action from Tuesday:
Class LL
Wilton 2, Cheshire 0: Ben DeLaubell scattered seven hits and struck out six in six innings, but No. 12 Cheshire (13-9) suffered the upset by the No. 21 seed.
Fairfield Warde 11, Naugatuck 4: Mike Plasky had two hits, two runs and an RBI as the No. 23 Greyhounds (10-12) fell to the No. 10 seed.
Class L
Watertown 4, Stratford 1: Nick Mondak tossed a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts as the No. 5-seeded Watertown High baseball team earned a 4-1 win over No. 28 Stratford in the first round of the Class L state tournament Tuesday.
Mondak also hit an RBI double. Ryan Fowler hit a two-run double to break a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning and Mike Ericson had two singles and a run for the Indians (17-6), who will host No. 21 Wethersfield today.



Torrington 3, Platt Tech 2: Jason Vinisko allowed six hits and struck out six as the No. 27 Red Raiders took down the No. 6 seed. He also had an RBI double and scored.
Nate Manchester and Ben Vanotti had RBI singles for Torrington (10-11), which will play Notre Dame-West Haven today at Quigley Stadium.
Bristol Eastern 2, Joel Barlow 0: Nate Carney (8-0) tossed a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the top-seeded Lancers (19-2). Nate Hickey had three hits and scored a run for Eastern (19-2), which will host No. 16 Windsor today.
Wethersfield 6, Pomperaug 1: Brian Vieira scattered eight hits as No. 21 Wethersfield upset the No. 12-seeded Panthers. Pomperaug (13-11) managed just four hits through the first six innings and scored its only run in the seventh.
Class M
Northwestern 8, Wolcott Tech 0: Mitch Gryniuk tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing five hits while striking out four, as No. 14 Northwestern ousted No. 19 Wolcott Tech.
Luke Gryniuk had two doubles, two RBI and two runs for the Highlanders (14-7), who will visit No. 3 Tolland today. Vin Tancreti added a single, a double, two RBI and two runs. Joe Colombie chipped in with two hits, an RBI and two runs.
Bill Langer doubled for the Wildcats (12-9).




Wolcott 6, Bacon Academy 2: Ike Negretti pitched a complete-game five-hitter with five strikeouts as No. 8 Wolcott moved past the No. 25 seed.
Matt Warren had a double and scored for the Eagles (16-7), and Nate Murphy added a two-run single. Nick Longo had a single, two RBI and two runs. Jacob Ramos also had two RBI for Wolcott, which will host No. 9 Ellington today.







Ellington 10, Ansonia 3: Cam Rosa pitched five innings and homered to help Ellington bounce No. 24 Ansonia. Marty Mikos had a two-run single for the Chargers (11-10), while Cody Teodosio struck out seven in the loss.
Class S
Oxford 9, Tourtellotte 2: Nick Dorazio had two hits and two RBI to lead top-seeded Oxford.
John Yish had two hits and an RBI for Oxford (20-4), which will host No. 16 Canton today. Matt Stordy chipped in with a two-run single. Cole Chudoba (9-0) struck out seven in four innings, and Jason DeNigris fanned three as they combined on a three-hitter.
Terryville 7, East Hampton 5: Doug Thorne gave up six hits while striking out two in a complete-game effort as No. 25 Terryville upset No. 8 East Hampton.
Ian Schmidt was 3-for-4 with a double, a grand slam, five RBI and three runs for the Kangaroos (11-10), who will visit No. 24 Old Lyme today.
Holy Cross 11, Somers 4: Matt Bonvicini had a double, triple and three RBI for the No. 2-seeded Crusaders, the only No. 2 seed to avoid the upset bug in the first round.
Mike Keating had a double, single and two RBI for the Crusaders (19-5). Fran Phelan (two innings) and Tim Zupkus (five innings) combined on the win. Phelan also had a double, a single and an RBI.
Gilbert 5, Housatonic 3: Ryan Sholtis earned the win to send No. 15 Gilbert in today’s second-round game at Holy Cross.
Garrett Lombardo tripled for the Yellowjackets (12-9). The No. 18 Mountaineers finished the season at 10-11.
St. Paul 15, Coginchaug 6: Andrew Owsianko tallied two singles, a double, two RBI and three runs to lead the No. 4 Falcons past the No. 29 seed.
Chadd Richardson singled, doubled, drove in four runs and scored, and Ben Mazzone went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Mike Dombrowski and Jackson Hines had two hits and an RBI apiece for St. Paul (16-6), which will host No. 13 Notre Dame-Fairfield today.
Cromwell 9, Thomaston 8 (12): Facing a three-run deficit in the bottom of the 12th, the No. 10 Bears only managed two runs and fell to the No. 23 seed.
Jared Kahn homered and doubled for Thomaston (13-8). Justin Taylor struck out seven and scattered six hits in 10 innings of work. Cromwell’s Amir Nitowski also went 10 innings before Aidan Gagnon recorded the last two outs for the save.





Old Lyme 7, Sacred Heart 3: Brett Hartmann had a triple and three RBI as No. 24 Old Lyme upset No. 9 Sacred Heart.
Jimmy Edwards had an RBI single for the Hearts (13-9) and also struck out six in 4 1/3 innings. Matt Mancini finished the season hitting .435.
Portland 10, Waterbury Career 0: Brett Thivierge allowed one hit with 11 strikeouts to lead No. 12 Portland.
Adrian Velez broke up a no-hitter in the seventh inning to finish his season with at least one hit in all 21 games for No. 21 Career (10-11). Tino Toucet allowed one hit and three unearned runs in four innings of work.
St. Bernard 1, Shepaug 0: Cam Winiarz tossed six innings and struck out 13 as No. 26 St. Bernard upset No. 7 Shepaug. Bryan Guetens earned the save with two strikeouts in the seventh for the Saints (11-10).
Ryan LaMay went the distance for the Spartans (14-7), allowing four hits with 11 strikeouts. John Swanson and LaMay both singled.
Stafford 8, Wamogo 1: Luke Broadhurst drove in two runs as No. 11 Stafford scored five runs in the sixth to pull away from No. 22 Wamogo (10-11).
Jordan Bergs had an RBI in the first, and Garrett Coe struck out six.
