Welcome to Mega Tuesday! The state tournaments begin in all sports today and there are a whopping 160 or so events on the schedule. With the end of the school year fast approaching, the pressure to wrap things up increases. At least the weather looks good for the week. The Zone will dispatch writers, photographers and videographers into the field today to chronicle as much of the action as possible.

Tuesday notes
Double-locals
- Northwestern will host Wolcott Tech in baseball, a renewal of the yars when both were members of the Berkshire League.
- How about Gilbert hosting Housatonic in a BL baseball showdown. This could be one of the best games of the day as they met twice in the regular season and both were 1-run games (the first in extra frames).
- In girls lacrosse, Lewis Mills will host BL rival Housatonic. They also met twice (in a span of four days in early May), with the Spartans winning twice, both by a single goal.
Keep an eye on
- Cheshire baseball will play at home but better be at its best against Wilton of the FCIAC.
- If both Watertown and Pomperaug win home games today they will meet Wednesday at Deland Field.
- The Northwestern softball team might have the worst draw. Today it makes the interminable journey to Waterford and if the Highlanders win, they play No. 1 St. Joseph Wednesday.
- Seymour and Oxford, with wins today, will meet in the second round on Wednesday.
