On a cool but sunny day there was plenty of high school sports action Wednesday. Here are some of the highlights:
SOFTBALL
- Molly Kennedy’s leadoff homer in the top of the seventh inning gave Naugatuck a 4-3 win over host Sacred Heart in NVL softball action Wednesday.
- Abby Abramson drilled a three-run homer, doubled and tallied five RBI, all while striking out 12 in Cheshire’s 17-3 blowout of Lyman Hall.
- Ashley Antonazzo’s two-hitter with 11 strikeouts paced Pomperaug in a 15-1 win over Kolbe Cathedral.
- Jordan Perzan had five hits with three home runs, a triple, single and six RBI in Lewis Mills’ 15-4 win over Gilbert.
- Kara Santoro lined a game-winning, two-run triple in the top of the seventh to lead Canterbury past Chase, 8-4.
- Sisters Raeanne and Jenna Geffert combined on a five-inning no-hitter as Seymour beat Kennedy, 17-0. Chelsea Avila, Becca Johnson, Caitlyn O’Hara and Raeanne Geffert all homered.
- Maggie DeSantis and Roza Pine combined to go 7-for-7 with six RBI and six runs as Kaynor Tech routed Whitney Tech, 20-5.
- Tori Tompkins doubled, homered and drove in three runs as Litchfield edged Housatonic, 11-8.
- Meghan Sastram hit a grand slam and Jillian Cowell homered in Oxford’s 20-0 win over Derby.
- Cyrena Zemaitis helped her own cause with a home run to support her seven-hitter as Wamogo beat Nonnewaug, 11-3.
- Brigid Johndrow had three hits, including a homer, three runs, three RBI and three steals in St. Paul’s 18-0 victory over Wilby.
- Amanda Thiel and Cierra McGowan had three hits apiece in Torrington’s 8-3 victory over Wolcott.
- Samantha White’s two-run single highlighted a four-run third inning to lead Woodland to a 4-3 win over Watertown.
- Annie Rosa and Giana Johnson drove in five runs each to help Shepaug rout Terryville, 22-7.
- Sara Roussis tallied three hits and three RBI in Wolcott Tech’s 17-1 win over Bullard-Havens.



BASEBALL
- Zac Larsen hurled a no-hitter with six strikeouts to lead Housatonic to a 4-0 win over Litchfield.
- Jason Vinisko spun a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and Delvin Alvarez cracked a solo homer as Torrington blanked Wolcott, 2-0.
- Richard Hawk went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI while throwing three scoreless innings of relief in Kaynor Tech’s 9-1 victory over Whitney Tech.
- Nick Mondak homered, and Ryan Fowler stroked a two-run double to support Mike Ericson’s eight-hitter in Watertown’s 4-2 win over Woodland.
- Joe Holm tripled and launched a two-run homer in Seymour’s 19-3 rout of Kennedy.
- Leni Palazesi allowed no hits in five innings as Forman dumped Chase, 12-1.
- Pat Palmer had three doubles and six RBI to help Ansonia down Crosby, 12-3. Francisco Reyes pitched a five-hitter with eight strikeouts.
- Jared Keller smashed a three-run homer, and John Yish tallied three hits as Oxford crushed Derby, 18-0.
- Wes Lahey spun a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts to pace St. Paul in a 9-3 victory over Wilby.
- Nick Sanson’s three-run double highlighted an eight-run third inning as Cheshire blanked Sheehan, 9-0.
- Garrett Coe tossed a five-hitter while striking out 10 and allowing no earned runs in Wamogo’s 4-1 win over Nonnewaug.
- Ethan Surveski went 3 for 3 with three RBI and four runs off the bench as Lewis Mills edged Gilbert, 9-8.
- Connor Goggin was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBI in Holy Cross’ 6-2 victory over Northwestern.
- Steve Marinaro pitched a four-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Naugatuck to a 4-1 win over Sacred Heart.
- Riley Shreders notched three hits and two RBI as Wolcott Tech squeaked past Bullard-Havens, 4-3.
- Austin Dutcher, Ryan LaMay and Jack Pesce all enjoyed perfect days at the plate, combining to go 8-for-8 in Shepaug’s 10-3 win over Terryville.
